The look of Shock... and Love

Well after many requests I have decided to share our "finding out" video. Kenny and I wanted the experience to be really special. We had Dr B office put the gender in an envelope. We patiently waited for Kenny to be done work. Headed up to the Galleria. Asked the girl at Dillard's to put either a blue or pink dog in a bag. To which she responded "O.M.G!" not sure but Kenny thought maybe she speaks in text. We ordered a hot chocolate at Panara (where we had our very first date), sat down and well SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE. Not sure if you can see the look of shock on my face?? Let's just all remember I was convinced it was a girl. For the record we are very very very excited to be having a boy. It took a little bit of adjusting. But I can't wait to meet my little man. Oh and try to ignore the awful music in the background!

Walking in a Winnipeg Wonderland

What an exciting time! Christmas is most definitely our favorite time of year. This year Kenny and I were able to celebrate together (for the 1st time) and boy did we ever celebrate! Home for 10 days we were blessed with a full suitcase (42LBS) of toys and clothes for Shep, and some new awesome maternity clothes from my mom and dad (for both Kenny and I). Which was some smart planning as I know for a fact I packed on 5.5 lbs of amazing Canadian goodness, I have good reason to believe Kenny was not far behind. WOW did we eat! Each night Kenny sang the same song, "I feel sick, why did we eat so much?" It was so awesome to see my family, show off the bump and share such a beautiful time with Kenny. We were also able to gather almost everyone together to announce that we are expecting a baby BOY this April. All in all I could not have asked for a better Christmas in the Peg.

Whatcha got in that sling??

Kenny and I were blessed this week with a beautiful sling from Seven Slings. Hey whats a Mama to do when she has a sling but no baby to try it out with???

23 weeks and a little change

Here's a pic of "the bump"

Tonight Kenny and I went on a DATE! This is a pretty big deal since for the most part we seem to always be working. We are so thankful for opportunities to work but it sure was nice to both have a night off. So we drove ourselves downtown to Sullivan's Steak House. The food was UNREAL! Practically had to carry me out :) Get this Kenny won a gift card last month for this restaurant it's value was $75.00. We were hungry though and were ready for a good treat. When dinner was done I knew God ha to have a big smile on his face... grand total $76.50! Man it is awesome to walk in favor and in this case be able to eat in it. So thank you Jesus for the awesome meal, love Finshep.

Finshep The Time Traveler!

What an amazing day! Kenny and I were off to see Dr.B who ended up being Catherine the R.N. Check out some of the pictures Kenny was able to purchase. You know Kenny didn't hesitate on that purchase :)

Little did we know Finshep is actually 20 weeks and 1 day old today. Apparently we time traveled right past our big 5 month marker! And get this... our corrected due date?? April 7th! Carla's birthday, the day I've been sure that baby would be born. I guess we'll see. Oh and as of right now, your guess is as good as ours :)

Celebrating Today and Tomorrow What Awesome Days God has Made!

Well today is Thursday which is always exciting at our house. It means the pictures of the spinning baby to the right will change. Another week, another pound or two and one more huge milestone! This week in utero: the baby is now the size of a 6 inch sub, it is starting to bulk up on fat and is being covered in the most expensive and hard to come by protective lotion :)
Today is also very exciting for all three of us as it is Finshep's dad's 35th month sober! We are so proud of Papa Kenny. He is such a brave, strong, hard working, determined man of God and if not for his determination to beat this disease none of us would be together. Thanks Dad! We love you so much.
Lest we forget to mention tomorrow, tomorrow, it's only a day away! We have finally reached our big appointment with Dr. B. I can't wait to see how much this baby has changed. Updated pictures for all! While we may or may not find out this week if we have a Fin or Shep, you my great friends and family will have to wait. Sorry. And just an FYI we've heard it all. So you can spare me your, "I won't tell a soul"... YES YOU WILL! So let us bless you and not put the pressure of keeping such an awesome secret to yourself.
Soon enough!

Confusion starts with C

Well today we were off to run our Saturday errands. I love Saturdays. I love all we accomplish on Saturdays. However! I don't love how early my husband feels he needs to wake up on Saturdays... ugh. So today we hit the mall. On our check list: Get our rings cleaned and checked, pick up one last Christmas present and the biggie visit Victoria Secret (oohhh). Poor Kenny, I am some kind of wife bringing my husband with me to one of the most suggestive stores around. Better, leading him (hand in hand) right past all things lacy and pretty, items which might have made is mind scream "Praise God we are newlyweds!!" straight to the land of .....comfort, cotton and most of all confusion.Welcome to pregnancy Love. But a Mama's gotta do what a Mama's got to do. And let's be honest comfort and support are top priorities for these girls. So I must say that when our helpful sales associate asked what I was looking for I froze. Now all you ladies whom may have grown up feeling you were just a little short changed in a certain department will understand. This was a monumental moment in my life. And while a wireless, padding free, mom to be brazier may not be the cutest addition in my closet, I'm thankful. Celebrate starts with C!

18 weeks ... Brooke Fraser Concert To Celebrate

Man am I out of the loop! But it's all good cause God's got my back. I used to be in the know of anything coming remotely close to Austin, and now I'm busy just trying to find my cell phone. Well this week I almost missed out on one of the greatest shows. Now 18 weeks, feeling amazing we were off to The Parish on 6th street to see one amazing singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser. My photographer was having some problems with the lighting this week. Not saying my back is growing as fast as my front... not saying it isn't. The show was awesome, her voice was even better live (which is always big treat), the venue held about 200 standing fans and you know we were 5 feet from her feet. Finshep LOVED it! Respectful during the show Finshep chose to listen quietly. However once we hit the car Finshep was ready to go. Danced the whole way home, even busting out some new moves.... The slip and slide to the left then flip back to the right, kick your mom in the tum and we dance all night. This is Finshep's new favorite song called "Something in the Water"

How to find out?!?!

Wow does time seems to be flying by these days! So many big things have been happening around here... My work and travel paperwork have both come (early) as well as our interview date with immigration, PTL. Oh and the baby has started to kick. What!? Yes Finshep is strong and well, kicking up a storm... day and night :) What an awesome experience to feel your child. What I might consider not so "awesome" not fitting into any of your clothes, including underwear! Are you serious? Call me crazy but never did this cross my mind. Back to the good stuff... So before we know it it will be ULTRA SOUND TIME!! And this is the BIGGY!! We will be seeing Dr.B for our detailed 20 week ultrasound. I'll be checking the ears, (I've been praying over them) I believe my issue with ears might have come from childhood? Perhaps my sisters singing "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E" (reffering to my ears!) before I could spell caused this deep need to pray over my child's ears? Besides the ears I might be keeping an eye out for something else. We are pretty sure we want to know what this small child is so now we just have to figure out how we want to find out. We've been tossing around the idea of taking the envelope to a store and having the clerk tell us which outfit to buy (pink or blue) I am however open to any ideas you may have!!! We have a week to go, so let me know what you think! Excited to hear some new ideas :)

Thanks!!

Pies Pies Wonderful Pies!

While my Canadian friends and family are well past Thanksgiving, my American friends are just getting ready. And I'll be honest I have no problem with celebrating twice, in fact I'm quite "Thankful"! So here's a thought.... another Canadian here in Austin who also loves to bake has started taking pie orders for Thanksgiving. It got me thinking, I would love to do that! I am thinking of making Apple, Pumpkin,& Cherry. Question, what kind of pie would you like me to make you??

Finshep ... I can hear you!!

Well we are 15 weeks and 4 days in and have never counted time like we do now. Lately I've been feeling great, minus the headaches. Up about 8lbs and forcing Kenny to get a 10th job to support my new hobby... eating!! Really it's amazing to think that I am currently carrying a cell phone sized baby around in me. Lovingly we have dubbed the baby "Finshep" it has taken the awkwardness out of our daily prayers.

So today Kenny, Kat and little Finshep were off to our monthly appointment, a quick visit with our nurse Lori. All in all everything looks awesome. And while we wait for what feels like FOREVER (our next ultrasound in November) we are very thankful for today's very sweet moment.

Buy Buy Baby!!

Well today when I probably should have been resting (after teaching 13 kiddos in preschool and then a birthday party at kiddie acres) Kenny and I took a little trip to Buy Buy Baby. For those who haven't been yet it is a lot like Babies R Us. We decided to have a little fun with the registry gun and go on a scan-a-thon! Since we have all the large items we let loose and went to town on the smaller items. Since we are first timers if you notice any items on our list and have a review, comment, or better suggestion PLEASE do tell! There are just so many options and you Mama's know what works and what doesn't.  Appreciate all your help and love!

Just click the link below, go to registry and fill in either Kat Devuono or Kenny Skadal.

Babys 1st Concert

Last Thursday Kenny surprised me with tickets to the "Make a Change" tour. DATE NIGHT!!! The tour featured Toby Mac, Third Day, Michael W. Smith, Jason Gray and Max Lucado. We had such an amazing time! While waiting in line the craziest thing happened. Two women in front of us turned around and kindly asked "how far along are you?" Say What?!?! I was SHOCKED! I knew I had gained weight (approx 7lbs) but I was not expecting complete strangers to notice. Well weather you believe me or not, we are so excited and loving every minute of this adventure :)

What 2 Do.... Review??

Alright I'm ready, I've caught the bug. As you may or may not know my oldest sister Shirley happens to be the genius behind www.therempels4.blogspot.com (A mom after God's own heart) She has had amazing success after putting in lots of creative hard work. One thing she has become famous for on her blog are her product reviews. And Ill be honest, I'm jealous. That girl has so many awesome products showing up at her house, it's crazy. Her giveaways are amazing and so are her reviews.
Oh so that's where the bug came from! With plenty of Mama's, Prego Mama's, and children around me I think this could be a HUGE success.
So would you help this Mama 2 be out. If you know of a good product to review or products in need of review. If you have done a review and have advice, I'll take it all!

Blessings from Aunty Carla

Tonight I called home to check in before my little sister Carla (whom we loving refer to as Cookie) went to sleep. We started our chat with a fill in the blank sing a long of version of "You are my sunshine". Then we said prayers. I prayed for the continued healing of her body and a goodnight sleep (her request) Then she prayed for me,

"Jesus I just want to come to you and thank you for Kat and her baby. I want to ask you that her baby is healthy and strong and that there will be no problems when it is born. Amen."

WOW! This brought tears to my eyes, the baby's and God's. Cookie is one of the most amazing kids ever created and how blessed am I to have her as my sister.
