Shame shame shame on me ....

Really? A blog post once every 2 months? Not sure where fell off the blogging wagon... Might have been during our first move, or second, or third or maybe the forth!? Maybe our big trip to Canada? Doesn't matter, Shep is growing and we have the pictures and videos to prove it! Give me a little time and I will have us back on track!

Happy Mother's Day!

We were so blessed to have both my mom and her mom (my Oma) visit us in Austin. They booked their flights before he was born and they made it in God's perfect timing! We were able to see some Austin sights, do lots of shopping and even scored a beautiful photo shoot with Great Uncle Dave (Kenny's Uncle). I love these women so much and it was truly amazing to have them here with me for our first week home. Happy Mother's Day from Austin! We love you!  Can't wait to celebrate this Sunday with Nana (Kenny's mom), as well as dedicate Shep to the Lord at Free Chapel Austin (our awesome church)!

Introducing ..... Shepherd Phoenix Charles Skadal

For 38 weeks of pregnancy I wondered and prayed about the day our Son would be born. I had fears... crazy fears. Like he would get stuck and never come out like the woman who was pregnant for 50 years! And I had normal fears like, HOW he was going to come out. All in all at the beginning, middle and end of the day when I prayed over this very special day I asked God for a Supernatural Blessed Birth. And friends let me tell you, I asked and he gave. Our birth day was perfect. I was 6 cm when we made it to the hospital, with assistance from my doctor my water was broken. A quick 4 1/2 hours later I was holding my beautiful baby. The peace of God in the room was amazing. We played the new Hillsong Aftermath CD, Brianna our Doula coached me, and Kenny my hero held my hand.. and leg ;) while offering me the most amazing emotional support. Shepherd was born April 5th at 10:34pm. Weighing 7 lbs 12 onces (most of which was hair, just like his cousin Geneva) and he was 20.5 inches long. After a week in the NICU (for breathing issues) we were thrilled to take our man home! I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have prayed for my family. We are truly blessed. We love you.

Oh we wait....

So while talking to my mom this morning I realized I have officially fallen into the quiet zone. I believe it was your fault, well at least fess up you started it! See once I discovered I was dilating I also quickly discovered that I could no longer casually call you or anyone else. Seemed like everyone answered with an out of breath excitement which I would quickly crush with the response "no he's not coming, I just called to chat" . This is also about the time I realized that just like his father people are far more interested in the men in my life than they are with me...lol. Well, since I've entered into this new zone of silence chances are I haven't shared much news with you. So here it goes!
We are currently learning how to count... slowly. At 37 weeks 3 Days (this past Monday) I was now a FULL (if you have ever impatiently waited to dilate you know how important the FULL is) 2 CM and almost completely thinned out. This baby is low. Don't need a Doctor to tell me that though! Check out these two recent pictures, and you'll see what I mean :)

Last Wednesday some of the sweetest girls I know hosted Shep and I a beautiful baby shower at Maudie's. We had a great time, beautiful weather, great food and amazing company. Thank you to all our awesome friends who are the most amazing blessing in our lives. We love you!!!

This past weekend we were blessed with a wonderful baby shower at Kenny's Mom and Dad's house ( Nana & Best Buy). Kenny's family in Houston came out and blessed us with some wonderful baby gifts for Shep. I let Kenny take the spot light (this time). He loved opening the gifts!
